BFA DESIGN THESIS PROJECT
Dusk Veil is a fictional artist I created for my BFA Design thesis project. My goal was to develop a complete visual identity from scratch; logo design, album artwork, posters, merchandise, motion graphics, AR overlays, and more. The project explores how design, music, and storytelling can merge into one cohesive universe. Through this work, I built a multi-platform brand that feels immersive, emotional, and believable as a real artist experience.
ARTIST WALL STAMENT: Dusk Veil, Mixed Media
I have always enjoyed how much music artists brand themselves. I appreciate how their brand subtly shifts to accommodate a new release, whether that's a single, an album, or a tour announcement. These have all been staple assets for every artist at some point. Over the past few decades, motion graphics have entered the mainstream. You see it everywhere: music videos, lyric videos, and even those animated album covers you see on Apple Music. My work explores this concept through the artist “Dusk Veil”. Utilizing several marketing and brand identity strategies, I built an artist who utilizes motion graphics and augmented reality. “Dusk Veil’s” fictional world expands beyond just static images and invites viewers to bring it to life via their mobile phones. This collaboration of design and tech reflects how motion graphics and digital media form a significant part of an artist's visual identity.
THESIS STATEMENT: The Vital Role of Motion Graphics in Redefining Music Marketing and Identity
Motion graphics have become vital in shaping how musicians in the masses, whether past or present, build up a portion of their visual identity as we see the world advance and grow, especially in technological areas. We can see how much more reliant we have become on streaming services and social media; it will only continue to dominate with captivating album covers, lyric videos, immersive concert visuals, and interactive content via social media. Motion graphics give artists an inclusive and entertaining way to tell their stories and build their brand.

In the augmented reality portion of my exhibition, viewers can scan select Dusk Veil designs using the Artivive app to reveal hidden motion graphics. Printed works such as the album cover, poster, and merchandise activate into animated overlays, transforming still images into living visuals. This interactive layer allows the audience to experience Dusk Veil’s world beyond the physical artwork, blending print design with motion graphics to create an immersive hybrid experience.
