The JoyUs font design was created as part of a project that required developing a custom typeface to represent a musical artist. For this project, I created my own K-pop boy group called JoyUs, which focuses on pop music that is feel-good, heartfelt, catchy, playful, and upbeat. The concept for the group and its visual identity was inspired by existing K-pop groups such as BOYNEXTDOOR, ZEROBASEONE, and TOMORROW X TOGETHER.

DESIGN BREIF

OVERVIEW: The goal of this project is to create a custom font for a fictional K-pop boy group called JoyUs. The typeface will act as a visual representation of the group’s identity and help establish a recognizable style that reflects the group’s upbeat and energetic music.

OBJECTIVE: The objective is to design a distinctive and expressive typeface that captures the playful, youthful, and feel-good personality of JoyUs. The font should feel unique while still remaining readable and versatile enough to be used across multiple promotional materials such as posters, social media graphics, merchandise, and advertisements.

TARGET MARKET: The target audience includes K-pop fans and young listeners who enjoy bright, catchy, and emotionally engaging music. This audience is highly active on social media and often connects strongly with the visual branding of their favorite artists.

PRIMARY MESSAGE:The primary message of the JoyUs font is to communicate the group’s joyful, playful, and uplifting energy. The typeface should visually reflect the group’s feel-good music style while creating a strong and recognizable identity that can be consistently used across promotional media and merchandise.
